PMD Microdermabrasion Kit

If you have already experienced the numerous benefits of microdermabrasion procedures and are determined to purchase your own microdermabrasion kit, PMD is the right choice, to begin with.

  • Easy to use
  • Comfortable to work with
  • Not taking much space
  • Shown to provide fresher, more supple skin

In short, this is the description of the PMD at-home microderm unit first created in 2003 by doctors, engineers and microdermabrasion experts. PMD is the first handheld machine, intended for at-home microdermabrasion treatments that use patented spinning disc technology, embedded with aluminum oxide crystals in a combination with calibrated vacuum suction.

In 2004 was conducted an independent study at the University of California on the effect of PMD microdermabrasion. There were 54 participants who saw significant improvements in wrinkles, sun damage, skin roughness, and overall skin health.

There are 3 different types of PMD handheld microdermabrasion machines: Classic, Pro and Men, specialized in complete skin rejuvenation.

How will PMD help your skin?

The natural skin regeneration process progressively slows down as we age. When talking about skin regeneration, the process of regeneration is expressed by the skin cell turnover – the replacing of old, dead skin cells with new ones.

For an adult, it may take a couple of weeks until the skin gets completely renewed. As a rule, the number of your age is similar for the time required for the skin to renew.

But there is an effective procedure that increases skin cell rejuvenation. Mechanically exfoliating the dead skin cells, impurities and sebum accumulated in the pores triggers skin cell turnover and reveals fresher, more radiant skin.

Not allowing your skin to regenerate weekly makes it more prone to wrinkles, blemishes, dullness and age spots formation, this is why the regular deep exfoliation is the best you can do to reverse the natural aging process.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • The PMD device is one of the very few electric powered handheld microdermabrasion units, which makes it considerably more powerful and reliable, completed to the battery-powered ones
  • Consumers are provided with a 2-year warranty, unlike most microdermabrasion kits providing only 1 year warranty
  • Product developers determined 20 times deeper penetration of skincare products after exfoliating the face with PMD

Cons

  • The price factor is a considerable drawback, according to many who believe PMD is too expensive for a handheld MDA machine

How does PMD microdermabrasion work?

After assembling your PMD handheld machine, you can start your microdermabrasion session by pulling (gently) the treatment area in order to stretch the skin and create a better contact between your skin and the tip of the MDA machine.

PMD should constantly move over the skin, otherwise, you risk damaging its surface. Moving the tip upward and horizontal will guarantee you optimal results. Make sure you are maintaining an even contact with all treatment areas, be careful not to press the device too hard or stay too long in one area. After exfoliating the skin, the vacuum suction pulls blood to the surface of the skin, promoting the natural collagen synthesis while the dead skin cells and impurities are pulled back into the filter.

If you are using your PMD machine for the first time, use light pressure to check your skin tolerance. After you get used to the proper pressure needed, you can add more pressure during your next treatments but keep in mind that the purpose is superficial exfoliation, not grinding your skin!

The optimal effect of microdermabrasion treatments usually requires 8-12 treatments. Performing a PMD session every 6-7 days will guarantee you smoother, youthful and blemish-free skin.

Another optimistic comment says the PMD machine works well on shrinking enlarged pores. The woman who successfully managed to shrink the size of her pores also adds that she uses her PMD kit before going to bed because during nighttime she can apply her favorite moisturizer for better absorption after the procedure and potential redness is completely gone until the morning.
